International Verification Methods Workshop

The WMO WGNE/WWRP Joint Working Group on Verification is organizing a workshop on forecast verification methods, to take place at Montreal, Quebec, Canada, September 13-17, 2004. The workshop will consist of three components:

- Tutorial sessions on verification methodology

- Invited keynote papers on new research topics in verification methodology

- Contributed papers on verification methodology

Papers are solicited on all aspects of forecast and NWP model verification, and forecast value and impact. Emphasis throughout the workshop will be on the methods rather than on the results of specific studies.

Abstracts should be sent to Laurie Wilson at Lawrence.wilson@ec.gc.ca before June 15, 2004. To assist in the planning, anyone interested in attending the workshop is asked to make their interest known as soon as possible by e-mail to the above address. The workshop is jointly sponsored by the World Meteorological Organization and the Meteorological Service of Canada.
