This figure shows a comparison between the wind speed from the atmospheric model used to force the wave model, and the wind speed measured at Kingfish B. The observed wind speed is from an anemometer mounted at 44m above the sea-surface. To be able to compare this with the 10m modelled winds, it was extrapolated to 10m by assuming a logarithmic profile.

It can be seen that the errors in the modelled wind speeds are of a similar nature to the errors seen in the modelled SWH. There is an overall underprediction of wind speed from the model, which accounts for the deep-water case performing better than the shallow-water case.

In addition, the second peak in wind speed is not captured well by the model and the decay in wind speed in the model is not as steep as the observations.
