This figure shows the directional wave spectrum (left panel) and its one-dimensional frequency spectrum (right panel) at the location of one of the crosses in the previous figure. The mean wave direction here is 67 degrees, i.e., towards the north-east, as seen in the previous figure. However, this is evidently not representative of the actual sea-state as the directional wave spectrum shows that there is also a considerable amount of wave energy propagating towards the west. This is the wave system forced by the earlier storm in the Tasman Sea.
