This plot indicates all upper ocean thermal samples taken along the line path since the beginning of the century, regardless of any other characteristics of the sample other than its position.

These lines have been clustered together because they are partly superimposed, and because the filtering process differentiates the samples according to their position, rather than their ship origin. This is meant to better illustrate the sampling characteristics of a region rather than of a particular line.
