Functions
Specific functions of JAFOOS are to:
- Coordinate and focus the research activities of CSIRO Marine Research and BMRC
relevant to operational marine observational systems.
- Undertake research projects of mutual interest in data assimilation and the design
of observing networks.
- Assist the transition of experimental systems into the Bureau's operational environment
and review as appropriate.
- Develop data management tools and procedures, such as scientific quality control systems,
to assemble and maintain relevant scientific quality data sets of national and
international interest for the region.
- Play a coordinating role for related national and international initiatives.
- Develop and raise the national profile of ocean and marine research, observational
activities and products related to operational systems.
