Sample of my research

An All-Season Real-Time Multivariate MJO Index - Monitoring the MJO with combined EOFs of multiple variables to avoid the need for bandpass filtering. A paper describing this work is avalaible here.

Impact of the MJO on Australian Rainfall and Circulation - Examining the robust relationship between the (tropical) MJO and the surface weather and climate over (tropical and extra-tropical) Australia in all seasons.

Real-time Monitoring and Prediction of Modes of Coherent Tropical Varibility - A web-page that I developed in collaboration with Dr. Klaus Weickmann. A paper describing this work is avalaible here.

Statistical Prediction of Weekly TC Activity - A collaborative project with Anne Leroy of Meteo France.

Tropospheric Equatorial Waves - A sample of some of the work I've done on observations of Equatorial waves.

"Wheeler-Kiladis diagrams" - Colour versions of the commonly-used diagrams. Powerpoint version available here.

Data supply and presentation

Twice daily OLR dataset - An OLR dataset in which I have taken the day and night passes of the NOAA polar-orbitting satellites and mapped the data to the nearest synoptic times of 6Z and 18Z.

Current Climate Charts - A display of charts of a number of observed atmospheric fields, including OLR, that is updated daily. The focus is towards atmospheric intraseasonal variability in the tropics.
