Gedday,
The amounts are not large,
but the rainfall over Cape York and the Gulf
Country has persisted for
several days now. It seems to be diurnal
deep convection embedded
in a large scale "up-slide looking" thin
altostratus. From
the charts I can find on the web, its difficult to see
whether there is any synoptic
structure associated with this. Is it
forced by the trailing front
or equivalently a surface trough line?
Any comments from those with
on-the-bench experience and/or those with
detailed charts at their
disposal?
Even though the grid-point
statistics aren't all that impressive, the
models have been picking
up the large area of rainfall and the general
quantities fairly well.
cheers
