19 September 2002:  spurious low-level moisture last weekend in all the models

Tony Bannister (to laps_feedback)

Hello,
The wind event last weekend was well picked by the models, however
having to fire up some fire weather estimates for the weekend it was
very noticeable that all the models moistened the near surface layer too
much before the rain really came Monday. Is there realtime soil moisture
in the models or does climatological moisture rear its ugly head (
currently would be way to moist in most of Australia.)
Cheers
