27 June 2002:  Big wave event in Tasman Sea over the weekend

Jeff Callaghan

Models have deep low near NZ over the weekend with extensive fetch of
gales/storm force winds in Tasman Sea. Uk forecast large area of Hsig over
9 metres near 35S 162E by Sunday.
Another example where outlook on high seas  would provide lifesaving info
for yachties.

Big low in the Tasman and high seas it may be, but what
about the wind and waves on Port Phillip Bay today. Averages
in excess of 40knots, gusts closer to 50. Wish we had
a waverider buoy out there.. See:

Cheers,
Andrew (50km/h on the mountain bike into work today,
tail wind assisted!).
