The Centre for Australian Weather and Climate Research (CAWCR) will hold its second annual Modelling Workshop from 25-28 November 2008.  The workshop will explore the theme of high resolution modelling.  It will be conducted in the Bureau of Meteorology's Head Office, 6th floor, 700 Collins Street, Melbourne.  Dr Gary Dietachmayer and Dr Lawrie Rikus are the Workshop Co-Chairs.

CAWCR is a joint venture of CSIRO and the Australian Bureau of Meteorology. The Australian Community Climate and Earth System Simulator (ACCESS) is a fully coupled modelling system being developed within CAWCR with university sector involvement.

A number of prominent scientists and experts from overseas, Australian research agencies and universities have been invited to give presentations on high resolution modelling.  Some key themes include:

Numerical Weather Prediction
Coupled Weather Modelling
Regional Climate Modelling
Ocean Modelling - Coastal Sea Level
Expectations of high-resolution modelling

Keynote presenters will include:

Isaac Ginis (University of Rhode Island), Sue Ballard  (UK Met Office),
Kevin Horsburgh (Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory), Marcus Thatcher (CAWCR) and other presenters.
